Volvo Buses’ operating income has declined in the first quarter of 2012 although net sales increased by 10%. The decline to SEK 62 M is attributable to pricing pressure in Europe and low capacity utilisation in the manufacturing system in Europe and Brazil.

Record year for Volvo Buses
The Volvo Group saw an increase in sales for all regions in the fourth quarter of 2011. Profitability was improved and cash flow was described as strong overall. During the fourth quarter, the European bus market remained at the same low levels as in 2010.
First MAN gas bus ordered
Arriva plans to introduce 98 new low-carbon buses worth £26.7m to its UK fleet comprising 77 Volvo Hybrids and 21 MAN EcoCity CNG buses which will run on biomethane. This investment represents the UK’s largest orders both for Volvo hybrid buses and for MAN EcoCity gas buses.
