Uno articulated “bendy” bus inter campus service

Five Mercedes-Benz Citaro articulated ‘bendy’ buses were introduced on the inter-campus shuttle service for the University of Hertfordshire, on April 15. Scottish PLC Awards recognised the operators at a ceremony in Glasgow last week FirstGroup and Stagecoach were jointly awarded the coveted Sustainability Award at the Scottish PLC Awards in Glasgow, April 18.

Search for new operator to fill hole left by First

A proposed council-run service, aiming to replace routes lost after First Scotland East’s (FSE’s) decision to rationalise operations in Lothian (CBW1030), has been dropped. Over 200 hundred jobs may be lost and many residents left without services.

FirstGroup launches heritage trust

FirstGroup has created a new trust to restore and preserve some of the company’s historic vehicles. The FirstGroup Heritage Trust already has four buses from First’s operations in Aberdeen, dating back to the 1930s. However, that figure will grow as the Trust takes ownership of buses from throughout First’s operations in the UK.

£78.8m Greater Bristol Bus Network project completed

Go-Ahead to buy First’s Northumberland Park Depot

Go-Ahead group has acquired FirstGroup’s Northumberland Park bus depot in North-East London. The deal has a gross cash consideration of £14m, with the transaction to be completed on March 30, 2012. The acquisition increases Go-Ahead’s share of the London market from 22% to 23%.

First Manchester fined £285k for late running

A VOSA investigation revealed a quarter of all buses run by First Manchester do not run on time First Manchester has been fined £285,000 after North West traffic commissioner Beverley Bell ruled the firm had failed to meet the industry regulation of 95% for punctuality.
